Robert C. Shaigec
Rob is a senior partner in our firm. His practice has been restricted to criminal defence work since joining our firm in 1996. He has represented thousands of people charged with criminal offences, including the successful representation of numerous clients charged with murder.
Rob has appeared as counsel in all levels of Court, including the Supreme Court of Canada.
Rob serves on the executive of the Criminal Trial Lawyers Association. He is also a member of the Edmonton Legal Aid Committee, and an advising lawyer for the Criminal Law Project of Student Legal Services.
Rob is the editor of the "The Update" -- a weekly online criminal digest subscribed to by libraries, judges and lawyers across Alberta. He has served as an instructor at the Alberta Bar Admission Course, and has presented at various professional seminars on topics including: impaired driving and alcohol elimination rates, DNA warrant legislation, the law of third party disclosure, and aboriginal sentencing principles.
A large portion of Rob's practice focuses on Charter of Right's litigation. He is often hired by lawyers across Alberta to provide legal opinions on Charter of Rights cases. He has appeared as trial counsel in Courts in more that 50 cities and towns across Alberta, and is always happy to speak with new clients and consider new cases.
