Client charged with criminal harassment, and uttering threats. Admitted to threatening his former spouse, her new spouse, and the arresting officer in his case. Accused had a record for spousal violence. The nature of the threats provided indications of grandiose thinking, and revealed an element of mental illness in the commission of the offences. Defence provided court with evidence of mental health treatment and efforts at rehabilitation.
Held: Time served (14 days actual time) plus probation.
